FAQ
How to write a statement of purpose? Describe your reasons for applying to the PhD program at the Faculty of Management. Write about your prior research experiences or projects that have prepared you for PhD study. Explain what is the research area that you would like to contribute to and give an example of a research project you find interesting: one you have already conducted and would like to expand or one you would like to conduct. Explain what were the reasons for choosing the potential advisor you did.
What kind of English language certificate should I provide? Faculty of Management requires the applicants whose native language is not English to prove their knowledge of English language. The preferred certificate is the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). Applicants who have completed a bachelor's degree or a master's degree program where English was the main language of instruction are not required to take the TOEFL. Other acceptable certificates (at least b2 level) - GMAT, IELTS, CAE, CPE.
Should I send the paper versions of the documents? At an initial stage, it is sufficient to send the scanned documents by e-mail. Once you are accepted we will expect you to send us all the documents in paper versions.
Do I need to reside in Poland for the duration of the PhD program? Even though we do not provide regular classes for international PhD students, they are required to work under close supervision of their advisors. For this reason, it is crucial to determine the frequency of personal contact with your chosen advisor.
Can I do my PhD research only, without enrolling to the classes? We do not offer regular classes to our international PhD students. All work is coordinated and supervised by an advisor.
Can I enroll for PhD at your faculty with waiver from tuition fees? Unfortunately, we cannot currently offer our international students a tuition fee waiver. However, we would advise you to apply for research grants from international or Polish science foundations (e.g. National Science Centre).
